Kiddo! Board of Director Bios 2016-17

Bill Lampl ~ Executive Director

Bill Lampl has lived in Mill Valley since 1997. His twenty five years of business experience include executive management, brand and licensing development, operations, sales, marketing, merchandising and product development and business strategy. Bill has also been an elementary, middle, and high school substitute teacher in Marin. Bill recently served for six years on the City of Mill Valley Library Board of Trustees, including Board President for two years. His commitment to our community includes having been a member of the following: VP Fundraising, Mill Valley Middle School PTSA Executive Board; Scholarship Director, Southern Marin Youth Football Board of Directors; Manager, Mill Valley Little League; Coach, Mt. Carmel CYO Basketball; Coach, Mill Valley Soccer Club; Executive Board Member, Tam High Foundation; and Member, Tam High Grants Committee. When he’s not working, Bill enjoys cooking, listening to music, and hiking with his family which includes his wife, Kathleen Clifford, and his two children, Lauren and Benjamin.

Jackie Broad ~ Chair

Jackie is a financial analyst, children’s book author, and education advocate. Jackie graduated from Colgate University with a B.A. in Mathematical Economics and later received her MBA in Marketing from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Her early career in the retail and apparel industry, working for iconic brands such as Levi Strauss and Co. and Gap Inc., is where Jackie developed and honed her strategic planning, merchandising, data analysis, and reporting skills. Later, after starting her family, Jackie was inspired by her children’s antics to write and eventually launch the publishing company, Three Puppies Press, home to award winning picture books. Jackie’s interest in supporting education excellence for kids led to her role as an advisor for the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s Center for Childhood Creativity, a Math Instructor at Mathnasium and currently a Substitute Teacher in the Mill Valley School District. Since 2007, Jackie has been an active member of the Kiddo! board and is proud to be associated with an organization that has made such a positive impact on children and education for the past 30+ years. Jackie and her husband, Ken, have three children in the Mill Valley public schools.

Caitlin Weil Smith ~ Vice Chair

Seeking strong public schools and a close-knit community, Caitlin and her family moved to Mill Valley in 2004. After a 10 year career working her way up through the ranks of merchandising and marketing (where her passion for planning and spreadsheets was honed), Caitlin decided to stay home with her kids as well as volunteer as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) where she found great purpose advocating for foster children. A strong supporter of our public school system, Caitlin has volunteered for numerous projects and activities at Edna Maguire Elementary. Caitlin graduated from the University of Washington, where her passion for college football was sown, with a BA in English. She and her husband Jed have three children: Quinn (10), Annabel (8) and Lilah (5).

Beth Fogel ~ Secretary

Beth received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. She worked for eight years as a corporate attorney focusing on commercial and technology transactions, serving as in-house counsel for Hewlett-Packard and Extreme Networks. She is currently on the Park School PTA Executive Board, where she spent two years as VP of Communications. In that role she served as editor of Park’s weekly email newsletter and administrator of the Park School website. She also created the Park PTA webstore and serves as the PTA Online Volunteer Coordinator. Her daughter GG attends Park, and her son Alex attends MVMS.

Gretchen Boyle ~ Treasurer/Finance Committee Chair

Gretchen has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She worked in the Banking and Securities Group at a Big 4 Accounting Firm for eight years where her clients included many Fortune 500 companies. She has been an active member of the community as a member of the Park School PTA Executive Board, including two years as the Treasurer, as well as serving on the Board for a public school tax measure. Gretchen earned a BA in International Relations at the University of Virginia and a CPA and currently resides in Mill Valley with her husband and three children.

Maureen Behrs ~ K-2 Teacher Rep

Maureen Behrs moved to California with her family in 2001. She began her career in Mill Valley as a one to one aide at Tam Valley. She was first hired as s second grade teacher at Strawberry Point School, then, after two years there, she returned to Tam Valley where she taught first grade for ten years. She currently teaches first grade at Park School. Maureen is honored to serve on the KIDDO! board as a teacher representative. Her value for Arts’ Education is paramount to her teaching philosophy. Her own children have excelled in their careers due to their KIDDO! supported experiences in the Mill Valley School district. As a classroom teacher, Maureen has seen first hand the enriching environment KIDDO! creates. She never passes up an opportunity to say thank you or share her knowledge of all KIDDO! has done for the teachers and students in Mill Valley.

Tuyen Bonneau ~ Old Mill School Rep

Tuyen Bonneau is a proud alum of the Mill Valley public school system and personally benefited from the support of KIDDO! throughout her years as a student. Before having her own children, Tuyen taught first grade at Katherine Delmar Burke School for girls in San Francisco. As her own children entered the Mill Valley School system she had a desire to be involved. Tuyen has held positions as KIDDO! kindergarten ambassador and on the Gala committee, has been on the Old Mill School executive board as VP of Programs, chaired the Book Fair, and most recently served as PTA President for Old Mill School. In the greater community, Tuyen has volunteered her time at the Outdoor Art Club as literary/author chair of presentations and as a docent on the garden tour. She has also helped at Marin Charitable on their grants committee for nonprofits in Marin. Besides her college years in Tucson, Arizona, Tuyen Bonneau has lived in Mill Valley her whole life. She enjoys raising her two boys with her husband in her home town of Mill Valley.

Julie Yee Carlucci ~ School Reps Chair

Julie brings over 15 years of global marketing and general management experience to the Kiddo! Board. Prior to becoming a full-time mother of two girls, Julie held executive marketing positions for Fortune 100 consumer package goods companies after graduating from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She specializes in new product development in both domestic and international markets and has worked in venture-funded as well as non-profit startups. Since moving from Chicago in 2008, Julie has served in various positions on Strawberry Point School’s PTA executive board and looks forward to further contributing to the amazing Mill Valley community by serving on the Kiddo! Board.

Ted Chin ~ Audit Chair

A native of Marin County, Ted Chin went to public schools for most of his life. He graduated with honors from U.C. Berkeley, and received his MBA from the Haas School of Business, the University of California Berkeley. After working in sales and trading at a major Investment Bank following college, Ted founded a registered investment advisory firm, where he works today. He is also on the advisory board of several small start-ups. Ted was exposed to art from a young age by his mother, a Professor of Art History at Dominican University, and is a strong advocate for art in the school curriculum .Ted and his wife, Jackie, live in Mill Valley. They have two children, ages 6 and 8, who keep him very physically active.

Susan Boyle ~ Volunteer Coordinator

Susan moved to Mill Valley from Scotland in August 2012 with her husband John, and boys Matthew and Thomas. Upon completion of a B.Sc (Hons) in Computer Science & Management Science from The University of Edinburgh, Susan started her career with Salmon Brothers London in 1995, progressing through the organization and merger with Citi to become Senior Vice President on Global Fixed Income senior technology management team. During this time, Susan developed strong leadership skills in delivering large programs, managing global teams and both program and department budgets. Susan and family moved back to Scotland in 2007 transitioning to Edinburgh Fund Operations senior management team. As the boys reached school age, Susan joined the PTA, enjoying bringing her career and personal skills to the school and local community priorities. Moving to Mill Valley gave Susan an opportunity to focus fully on family and develop a passion for The Mill Valley Children’s Garden at Edna Maguire Elementary and has served two years on the Executive Board of Edna Maguire PTA.

Emily Cookson ~ Communications Chair

Emily received a B.A. in English Lit from Bennington College, and a Master of Education degree from Lesley University. She worked for Fidelity Investments in Boston for twelve years, and consulted for another three in marketing and brand management. She was employed as a Kindergarten Aide at Old Mill School for a year, and since then, has been a full-time volunteer. She spent two years as VP of Communications on the PTA Executive Board at Old Mill, editing the PTA newsletter, web pages, and helping with other school communications. She started with Kiddo! as a volunteer for the outgoing Chair, and as a writer on the Gala auction team. Her son Nathan is at Old Mill, and her son Adrian is at MVMS.

Becky Cover ~ Elementary School Teacher Rep

Becky Cover is a Tam Valley resident and a second grade teacher at Tam Valley School. Becky and her husband Charley have two daughters who both attend Tam Valley School. Becky has been teaching at Tam Valley since 2007. Prior to teaching, Becky worked in marketing and recruiting in San Francisco. Becky received her Bachelor of Arts from UC Davis and her Masters in Education from UC Santa Barbara. Both as a parent and a teacher, Becky is extremely appreciative of the unique enrichment programs provided by Kiddo!

Deborah Freed Goldman ~ Past Chair

Born and raised in Marin County, Deborah graduated Redwood High School, studied at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico, has a B.A. in Political Economy from U.C. Berkeley and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the University of Southern California. She’s worked in finance and marketing in banking and consumer products for over 20 years. Her Oro Puro Vineyards wine business just celebrated its 10th anniversary. She’s been President and Chair of the Mother’s Club, President of the elementary and middle school PTA’s and a Board Member at Kiddo! for over 10 years. She currently serves on the Tam High Foundation Board, MVMS PTSA and as Kiddo! Chair. Her three children have all attended Mill Valley public schools since Kindergarten.

Jake Hobson ~ Endowment Chair

Jake leads major gifts for Tipping Point Community, a non-profit fighting poverty in the Bay Area.  Before joining Tipping Point in January 2014, Jake led Dartmouth College’s fundraising on the West Coast for more than six years.  He has more than 10 years experience working with non-profits, and before that worked in product management and business development in Bay Area software companies.  Jake is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a degree is Studio Art.  He is originally from Long Beach, CA but has been in the Bay Area for 18 years and in Mill Valley for almost 10 years and wouldn’t think of moving back to Southern California.  He has two children at Edna Maguire School and coaches them in both the Mill Valley Soccer Club and Mill Valley Little League.

Tinsley Hutson-Wiley ~ Annual Giving Campaign Chair

Tinsley received her BA in systems engineering and environmental science from the University of Virginia and then worked in technical education for a consulting firm in Washington D.C. where she taught software classes and managed classrooms for the EPA. After moving to San Francisco, she became the regional director of technical education for a large software company, where she honed her management, presentation, and sales skills. She later pursued an interior design and architecture degree at the Academy of Art University and opened her design firm in 2007. She has served as a Kiddo! Ambassador at Strawberry Point School and been an active volunteer in her children’s classrooms. She also serves as an advocate for Raphael House, a shelter for families in need. Tinsley and her husband, Thomas, currently reside in Mill Valley with their daughter and son.

Kathy Knowles ~ Park School Rep

Before starting a family, Kathy worked as a program administrator with the National Endowment for the Arts and California Lawyers for the Arts, as an attorney with the federal courts, and as a second grade teacher in the Palo Alto School District. Since then, she has focused on raising daughters Eva (11) and Audrey (9) and volunteering at Park — chairing PTA committees and events, working in the classroom, and substitute teaching. Kathy is in her fourth year on Park’s PTA Executive Board, currently serving as VP of Teacher Support. Working closely with Park teachers and PTA, Kathy created and maintains Park’s Book Room. Kathy has a California Teaching Credential from Mills College, a J.D. from Georgetown, and a B.A. in Art History from Stanford, where she met her husband, Kevin.

Sharon Kramlich ~ Give-a-thon Chair

Sharon and her husband Rix have lived in Mill Valley since 2000 and have 3 children who currently all attend Old Mill School.  Since 1993 she has been a professional real estate agent with Pacific Union International.  As an advocate of quality education, Sharon has been an active participant and leader to affect growth and change.  When living in San Francisco, she sat on the San Francisco Art Institute Council and was the chair of two of the school’s largest and most profitable fundraising events to date.  In Mill Valley, she spent two years on the Tamalpais Preschool Board of Trustees and currently holds a role on the Old Mill School PTA.  She is a frequent in-school volunteer and has been an active supporter and business sponsor of Kiddo!  Sharon studied at the University of East Anglia and is a native of Norwich, England.

Judith Lemmens ~ Arts Committee Chair

Born & raised in a small town in the Netherlands, Judith has been calling Mill Valley home since 2008. Her education at Lucas College for design in the Netherlands, is where Judith studied all forms of Art and Design. Judith’s professional background is in interior design, and she worked for 8 years designing for IKEA. Judith has recently collaborated with her husband and has illustrated and published an animated children’s book for the iPad. She has completed many arts-based and creative courses throughout the years involving painting, stained glass windows, sewing, architectural drafting and her latest passion wheel ceramics. She has a son, Bor who will start MVMS in the fall of 2015 and a daughter, Pip who will enter 4th Grade at Park. She’s been doing a lot of volunteer work in the arts and in Graphic Design, both for Park School and Kiddo! and she is thrilled to serve as the new Kiddo! Arts Committee Chair.

Robyn Geissler ~ Middle School Kiddo! Teacher Representative

Robyn Geissler graduated from Williams College with a degree in Economics and put down roots in Connecticut with her husband. She was active in her three children’s schools and elected to the Board of Education while living there. Her husband started a new career in California in 1994 and her family moved to Mill Valley. She immediately became involved in the Mill Valley schools, Mill Valley Soccer, and Southern Marin Lacrosse. As her children became more independent she decided it was her turn to be a student again and went back to graduate school to become a math teacher. She received her teaching credential from Dominican University and began teaching at Mill Valley Middle School in 2002. She loves living and teaching in Mill Valley and has been a strong supporter of KIDDO! for the past 22 years.

Noel Murphy ~ Investment Committee Chair

Noel is a principal with DTS Group, a comprehensive financial advisory firm to high net worth clients in Mill Valley. He has more than 20 years experience in the capital markets with a focus on investment & wealth management. He was a principal and vice president at Montgomery Securities and Thomas Weisel Partners. He started his career at Deloitte and is licensed as a CPA He received his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of San Francisco in Business Administration and Accounting in 1990. He has served on the Board of the Little School of Mill Valley & Tiburon. He has been on the Kiddo! Investment Committee since 2007 and its Chair since 2011. He serves in a similar capacity as Chair of the Investment Committee for the Mill Valley Library Foundation. Noel grew up in San Francisco and has been a Commissioner and Deputy of the Olympic Club. As an athletic member, he competed for the Olympic Club in road & track cycling. Noel and his wife Sonya have a daughter at Mill Valley Middle School and a son at Tam Valley.

Jennifer Nassiri ~ Tam Valley School Rep

Jennifer received her B.A. in Womens Studies from the University Of Minnesota. For 15 years she served abused, addicted and homeless women and children, and co-founded a health and wellness program at Perspectives, a nationally-recognized human services agency in Minneapolis. Later Jennifer became a shiatsu practitioner and prenatal yoga instructor. Currently, you can find her running around with her two-year old Samuel and Tam kindergartner, Ava.

Susan Pollack ~ Business Chair

Susan moved to Mill Valley from the Boston area with her family, in 2010. Always passionate about volunteering in the classroom, she realized quickly that California schools needed more of a commitment. Susan has been actively involved at Strawberry Point School since 2010 She is the PTA President, with her term ending in June 2015. Susan has an undergraduate degree from Tufts University and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Boston University. She worked in the Social Work field before becoming a mom to three boys. Currently, Susan is working towards her California state social work license. During her free time, she and her family enjoy hiking, exploring new beaches and amusement parks, and going to the movies.

Chris Reid ~ Technology Chair

Chris was born and raised in Marin County and received a B.S from UC Davis in Computer Science. His whole career has been spent in the IT industry, mostly with consulting companies support business use of technology. Since 2001 Chris has led Verus Technology Solutions, an IT consulting company based in San Rafael serving Bay Area small businesses. Since 2007 Chris has supported Kiddo with their internal technology needs. Chris and his wife Laura have lived in Mill Valley since 1996, and their two children, Ashley and Teo, have attended Mill Valley public schools since kindergarten.

Ashlee Kathrein ~ Edna Maguire School Rep

Ashlee received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. After college Ashlee moved to San Francisco, to pursue her passion for teaching and working with children. She taught kindergarten and worked in the after school program at Marin Country Day School, before being promoted to a full-time stay at home mom of her two kids. Since then Ashlee has acted as room parent for both her kids and has volunteered for many school functions. Ashlee has enjoyed getting involved with Kiddo! And the PTA this year with her daughter in T.K at Edna Maguire and is looking forward to being a part of promoting Kiddo!’s vital involvement and support within our public school district.

Michelle Connolly ~ Events Chair

A California native, Michelle has a degree in Business Administration from CSUF.  She spent many years working in San Francisco for Macy’s and Gap Inc. in visual merchandising and management.  In 2003 she and her husband moved to Montreal, Quebec where her daughter Keira was born.  The family then moved to New Jersey where Michelle was active in the PTA and room mother of her daughters class.  In 2011 they  relocated back to Mill Valley where Keira finished kindergarten at Strawberry Point School.  Michelle is a Kiddo ambassador as well as an active volunteer in the classroom, art, library and playground choices.  She is also the Co-Chair of the Hospitality Committee, which is a great outlet for her love of cooking and entertaining.  She is honored to be a part of an organization that makes Mill Valley Schools a wonderful, enriching place for our children to grow up.

Rachel Ruffalo: Strawberry Point School Rep

A native of Northern California, Rachel and her family moved to Mill Valley in 2011, after living in Southern California and Washington, DC. They quickly fell in love with the natural beauty of Marin, the warmth of the community, and the vibrant spirit of their school – Strawberry Point. Since then, Rachel has served as a room parent, classroom and library volunteer, a Kiddo! Ambassador, and is now honored to represent Strawberry Point on the Kiddo! board. Rachel brings more than 20 years of experience working in or for California public schools. She has served as a high school history teacher, assistant principal, charter school developer, and now as an educational consultant to schools and educational organizations. She is passionate about providing all students with a high quality and enriching education. Rachel earned a B.A. in history from Stanford and master’s degrees in education from Harvard and Stanford. Rachel enjoys hiking local trails and traveling to national parks with her husband, Robb, and their three children — Maria (11), Wilson (9), and Sam (7).

Elaine Wilkinson ~ MVMS School Rep

Originally from the UK, Elaine moved from Toronto to Mill Valley in 2013 with her husband and 3 children who range from 2nd grade to 10th! Elaine worked in publishing as a Commercial Director in London for many years on magazines such as Elle and Harpers Bazaar before she moved to Switzerland and started teaching. As an ESL teacher, Elaine worked in universities and schools in Switzerland and Canada, teaching children and adults of all ages and abilities. She also started her role in Switzerland as a Senior Examiner within the International Baccalaureate program which she has continued with since. When she arrived in the US, she set up her own relocation business working with international and domestic transferees for the big tech companies in the Bay Area. Elaine was one of the co – chairs of the 2015 Kiddo! Gala which gave her a true working insight into the mechanics of Kiddo! and ignited her passion for the organization.
